Unemployment rate soaring in state: Sudesh

Ranchi: Former deputy Chief Minister and All Jharkhand Students Union president Sudesh Kumar Mahato today said a large number of youths of the state, around 20 per cent of the total population, were unemployed.

He said the number of unemployed youths was on the rise. He said more than 55 per cent of women were unemployed. Providing jobs to the youths and women was a major challenge, he said.

Mahato was speaking during a get-together organized by Bangla Mandal, Heenu, on Sunday. He said the state was also facing problem of displacement of the people which was leading to migration of youths to other states.

He said the state contributed for 32 per cent of total coal production in the country and still it was deprived of adequate power supply.

The Hatia MLA Navin Jaisawal, also present on the occasion, said work on various development projects was on in his Assembly constituency. He said work on projects worth Rs 350 crore was on in his constituency.

Kundan Singh, who joined the party today, said AJSU was a party which understood the issues of youths.

He said he had joined AJSU to join hands with the MLA of Hatia to help him make Hatia a model Assembly constituency in the state.
