Jamshedpur: A delegation of the Moolnivasi Sangh of East Singhbhum district staged a protest outside the Deputy Commissioner’s office on Tuesday, demanding the implementation of the UGC Bill 2026. The group also submitted a memorandum outlining their demands.
In the memorandum, the organisation urged that the stay imposed by the Supreme Court on the UGC Bill 2026 be lifted at the earliest. They also demanded that all reserved teaching and non-teaching vacancies for Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Other Backward Classes, Extremely Backward Classes, and religious minorities in universities be filled immediately.
The protesters further called for an end to discrimination in universities based on caste, religion, and gender. They also demanded the formation of a commission within the Indian judicial system and the implementation of a uniform education system across the country. Additionally, they sought a mandatory caste census in 2027.
Vijay Yadav, Executive President of the Bharatiya OBC Vichar Manch, said that if the Government of India does not support their demands, the agitation will continue.
District President Kapil Dev Thakur, Manoj Gupta, Gautam Kumar Das, Harender, and other members of the organisation were present during the submission of the memorandum.
