Jamshedpur, Nov 16: Gangster Tony Singh, associated with the Amarnath gang, was shot dead near Uma Tiffin on Mango Dimna Road late Friday night. Tony was standing with his associate Rajeev and others when a black Scorpio vehicle briefly stopped nearby, seemingly to survey the area, before leaving.

Minutes later, six assailants arrived on three motorcycles and opened indiscriminate fire on Tony. One bullet was fired point-blank at his head, killing him instantly. His family rushed him to Brahmananda Hospital, where doctors declared him dead. Another person, Vishnu alias Bunty, sustained injuries in the shootout and was transferred to TMH from MGM Hospital. His condition remained critical.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the murder was a result of a continuing gang rivalry. Police suspect the involvement of Avinash, a member of the Ganesh Singh gang, who had a long-standing feud with Tony. Recently, Tony was embroiled in disputes, including one involving a BJP worker from Gaur Basti and allegations of threatening a land broker.
Tony had also been arrested days earlier for possession of illegal firearms but was subsequently released. Police are examining CCTV footage from the area and conducting raids to apprehend the suspects. However, as of Saturday evening, no arrests had been made. The incident has created a tense atmosphere in the Ulidih locality, with residents on edge as investigations continue.
Contractor Sunil Kumar Singh shot dead in Telco
In another brazen act of violence, contractor Sunil Kumar Singh (47) was shot dead near Citu Talab in Telco on Saturday afternoon. The incident occurred around 12 PM when three unidentified assailants, riding motorcycles, fired at him.
Sunil was struck in the head, and despite being rushed to Tata Motors Hospital, doctors declared him dead on arrival. His associate, Salman Khan, recounted that they had left Sunil’s Birsa Nagar residence around 10:30 AM to oversee work at the Chassis Yard. The attack occurred while they were en route to a physiotherapy session in Baradwari.

The assailants, described as thin and tall, fled the scene after firing multiple rounds. Police recovered four empty cartridges from the site. Family members suspect the involvement of Govindpur-based criminal Bittu Kamat and his associates. Allegedly, Bittu had previously demanded extortion money of ₹4 lakh from Sunil, which had led to an FIR against him. However, eyewitness descriptions of the attackers do not match Bittu’s appearance, adding a layer of mystery to the case.

DSP City Sunil Kumar and Telco Police Station in-charge Shailendra Kumar inspected the crime scene. Sunil Kumar Singh, a contractor for MN Cargo Transport, was responsible for dispatching Tata Motors chassis. His murder has left his family devastated, and police are exploring all angles, including extortion and professional rivalry, in their investigation.
