Tim Cahill keen to promote football on and off the pitch

Star Australian footballer shares his expertise with teammates

Jamshedpur: The 38-year star Australian footballer, who recently joined Jamshedpur Football Club, is keen to promote the game both on and off the pitch. Talking to the newsmen after sweating out at the Tata Football Academy ground, the attacking forward said that he is keen to promote the game both on and off the pitch so that it can benefit more people.

The Australian forward has since played in a variety of league including the Major League Soccer (MLS) in USA, Chinese Super League (CSL) in China, the A-League and now is set to dazzle in the Hero Indian Super League (ISL).

�I am really very impressed with Jamshedpur. It is a green city. I am really very excited about my association with JFC. I will not only play for the club but will also work to promote football,� Cahill, who have scored 50 goals in 107 caps between 2004 and 2018.

Cahill, who has played four FIFA World Cups for his country, noted as a city Jamshedpur offers the best infrastructure in the country for football. He want to streamline and structure these factors and develop a connect to youth for Jamshedpur FC in the coming years. He is also keen to provide his expertise to All India Football Federation (AIFF) if required.

Cahill is also sharing tips with JFC mates related to the game. � As per our aim right now is to finish in the top 4. We are working according and training part is good. JFC has shown remarkable improvement as a team,� he noted.

Tim admitted that he rejected offers from various clubs from other parts of Asia before deciding to come to India.

Eastern India�s sports capital, the steel city became home to Jamshedpur FC, one of 10 clubs in the Indian Super League, on June 12, 2017 after Tata Steel won the bid with Jamshedpur as the host city.

JFC finished in fifth place in their debut season of the ISL. The club signed future mainstays in the likes of Subrata Paul, Tiri. The players won accolades for their performances during the 2017/18 season. Subrata Paul won the Golden Glove award, Jerry won the FPAI Young Player of the Year and Tiri and Wellington were part of the fans� team of the year.
