1830 warrants executed, Section 107 notices sent to 1173 persons: SSP

Jamshedpur: East Singhbhum Deputy Commissioner cum Returning Officer Amit Kumar Friday said the district administration was prepared to ensure free and fair elections on 12th May.
Addressing a press conference with SSP Anoop Birtharay, Kumar said the polling parties of Ghatsila, Potka and Baharagora Assembly segments would leave for their respective destinations on 10th May. The polling parties of Jamshedpur East, Jamshedpur West and Jugsalai would leave on 11th May, he said, adding further that the polling parties would leave from Jamshedpur Cooperative College and Loyola High School premises.
The DC further said that two polling booths in Potka and one in Ghatsila had been shifted elsewhere due to extremist threat.
Kumar said all candidates in fray were expected to furnish accounts of their election expenses on 30th April, 5th May and 9th May, failing which no permission would be granted to them for any meeting or campaign event. Publicity vehicles of candidates would also be seized in case of non-submission of expenses accounts, he said.
The SSP said the district administration had made elaborate security arrangements for free and fair polling at Jamshedpur seat. He said there would be adequate number of police personnel on deputation at every booth.
�So far, district police has executed 1830 warrants and sent notices to 1173 people under Section 107 of CRPC. We have also recommended cancellation of arms licence of 57 people as they have not deposited their arms with the district armoury despite being asked to do so following the directive of Election Commission,� said the SSP.
