Jamshedpur: The Graduate School College for Women celebrated the 25th Jharkhand Sthapna Diwas with a colourful three-day festival that blended competitions, cultural events and academic engagement. The programme, which also marked the institution’s Silver Jubilee observance, began on 11 November and drew enthusiastic participation from students across departments.
The opening day featured a series of competitions including English and Hindi essay writing, speech contests, painting events and both solo and group dance performances. Organisers said the activities were designed to “promote creativity, cultural learning and a spirit of healthy competition among students.”

The closing ceremony on 14 November commenced with a traditional welcome and a Ganesh Vandana presented by students. Dr. Veena Singh Prasad and Dr. Annu Kumari addressed the gathering, emphasising the importance of cultural education as an integral part of holistic development. Principal Dr. Arunshad Dey, who served as the Chief Guest, was felicitated along with Sonis Sahu and other faculty members. “Such programmes bring out the best in students and strengthen the cultural ethos of the institution,” Dr. Dey said.
A Hindi speech by Sangeeta Birma followed the felicitation segment, reflecting the academic spirit of the event. This was complemented by an English speech delivered by student Adya Abhay. The cultural segment featured a traditional Santhali dance led by Shant Choudhary and team, along with solo performances by Sneha Kumari and Sneha Bhattacharjee, which received wide appreciation.
Prize distribution for all competitions was held, recognising outstanding performances across categories. A group folk dance by B.A. Semester-3 students brought the festivities to an energetic close. The programme ended with a vote of thanks by Dr. Archana Sinha, while food stalls set up by students added a festive touch to the celebration.
