Jamshedpur, April 13: The milk of human kindness is measured not in liters or gallons but by the volume of service during devastating times when the economic down-under fraternity cries out for compassion from its more fortunate brethren. The newspapers are full of photographs and write-ups of socio-religious-political-cultural organizations distributing food packets and food essentials among the poor and needy in mind boggling quantities every day, everywhere, be they in accessible city points or inaccessible rural human habitats. Good deeds that are supposed to flow naturally through compassionate hearts were in camouflaged vogue at a period in time that came spontaneously without any pomp or show. Now of course, times are different where man is in a mad rush to nowhere yet the need of one-upmanship is essential. And so, cutouts of newspaper photos and news coverage are necessary to preserve and show to society that once upon a time during corona consternation kindness and compassion flowed amidst a besotted mankind.

But at least this social craving (?) for media space is providing manna if not form Gods heaven at least from equally impoverished souls in need of succor for social recognition to a human inferno where stomachs are on fire. To a man struggling to keep the body and soul intact, such publicity stunts do not matter as long as the wails of a disaster-afflicted mankind is subdued by these acts of mutual human deeds feeding for misplaced pomp and glory and being fed to stay alive and keep the human lineage of the perennially famished omnipresent through generations.
Yet, the almost obliterated cluster of Samaritans does exist in bits and pieces out of the world of religious parables and work away from the glare of public spotlight in the greater cause of human welfare where food for the body and the soul are on daily offer. There are small groups of young people and individuals who are daily providing cooked food or food essentials albeit in smaller but also in regular quantities in various localities without issuing photographs or press notifications. It is upto the Creator in various avatars to judge as to who gets the ticket to heaven or hell created by the joint efforts of a human race that view the concept of kindness through a multihued prism.
