Jamshedpur, January 10: Passengers at Tatanagar Railway Station can now enjoy improved dining facilities with the inauguration of a new Food Plaza. The unit was opened on Friday by IRCTC Eastern Zone Group General Manager Manoj Kumar Singh. The ceremony was graced by several dignitaries, including the Assistant Railway Manager (ARM) Tatanagar, Assistant Commercial Manager (ACM) Chakradharpur, Station Director, and Pankaj Goyal, the owner of Goyal & Goyal, the company responsible for operating the food plaza.
The new Food Plaza replaces the previously closed unit, which was shut down due to issues with irregularities in license fees. Under the guidance of IRCTC, the facility has been restarted following a transparent tendering process.

The food plaza will operate with food supplied from a modern base kitchen equipped with advanced technology and managed by trained staff. To ensure high food quality, the base kitchen will have a dedicated food safety supervisor and 24/7 live monitoring.
Speaking at the event, IRCTC GGM Manoj Kumar Singh emphasized the importance of providing high-quality food and services for passengers. “This initiative addresses the needs of travelers, offering them clean and tasty meals. The implementation of the base kitchen system will further enhance the dining experience, making it both reliable and convenient for passengers,” he said.

Future Plans for Jan Aahar Unit
In addition to the Food Plaza, IRCTC is also in the process of reopening the Jan Aahar unit at the station. The tender process for the unit is expected to conclude by January 15, 2025. Like the Food Plaza, Jan Aahar will also source food from the base kitchen to maintain consistent quality and hygiene standards.
Passenger Reactions and IRCTC’s Commitment
Passengers have welcomed the initiative, praising the improved quality, convenience, and reliability of the new dining options. The launch of the Food Plaza is part of IRCTC’s broader commitment to enhancing passenger satisfaction through better facilities and services.
The addition of the Food Plaza not only improves the overall experience for travelers at Tatanagar Railway Station but also reflects IRCTC’s dedication to delivering excellence in food quality and customer service.
