Tatanagar: Alert railway staffer averts mishap on Vande Bharat Express, felicitated

Jamshedpur, Feb 6: Exemplary alertness and presence of mind by a railway employee helped avert a potential mishap on the Vande Bharat Express under the Chakradharpur Division.
Rajen Kachhap, Pointsman-A at Sonua station, was honoured on Friday by the Divisional Railway Manager (DRM), Chakradharpur, for his prompt and decisive action that ensured complete passenger safety.
On February 5, while Train No. 20871 (Vande Bharat Express) was passing through the Sonua–Tunia section, Kachhap noticed smoke along with a burning smell emanating from the third coach due to a hot axle.
Acting swiftly, he immediately alerted the concerned officials. Following the timely information, on-duty railway staff and Divisional Control responded in a coordinated manner, safely stopping the train at Tunia station where the hot axle fire was quickly extinguished.
Thanks to the prompt action and efficient teamwork, the situation was brought under control without any injury or inconvenience to passengers. Appreciating the dedication and professionalism displayed, DRM Tarun Huria felicitated Kachhap and commended the collective efforts of all railway personnel involved in handling the incident efficiently, reiterating the Railways’ unwavering commitment to passenger safety.
