Jamshedpur, Nov 13: Chaos erupted on Thursday morning near the Kachhari Baba Temple at Sakchi – based old court when Tata Steel security personnel began fencing work behind the temple premises — an area adjoining Jubilee Park.
Members of the temple committee objected strongly, saying the fencing would block the temple’s rear exit, affecting the movement of devotees.
As tempers flared, committee members halted the work and staged a protest. Soon after, activists from the Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) and other Hindu organisations joined in, chanting slogans against Tata Steel’s action.
VHP leader Arun Singh accused the Tata Steel management of “attacking Sanatan culture” and adopting “double standards.”
He said, “The company is acting unilaterally without consulting the temple committee or holding prior discussions. Such steps will not be tolerated, as this concerns people’s faith.”
According to sources, the fencing is part of Tata Steel’s plan for enhanced security and beautification of the Jubilee Park area.
However, the escalating protests prompted police deployment at the site to prevent any untoward incident.
While the situation remains under control, tensions persist among local residents and temple devotees over the issue.
