Steel City mourns visionary leader known for humility and civic transformation
Last rites on December 9 at Parvati Ghat
Jamshedpur, Dec 7: Managing Director of Tata Steel Utilities and Infrastructure Services Limited (UISL), Ritu Raj Sinha, passed away on Sunday. His sudden demise has sent shockwaves through the corporate world and plunged his colleagues, friends, and family members into grief.
Rajesh Rajan, head of Corporate Communication at Tata Steel Jamshedpur, confirmed Sinha’s demise. According to sources, the 58-year-old MD of Tata Steel UISL experienced discomfort and was bleeding from his nose when at home. Sinha was rushed to the Tata Main Hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival at 1:56 pm.
Top officials of Tata Steel and leaders of the Tata Workers Union gathered at TMH to mourn the departed official. Last rites for the departed Tata Steel UISL MD are scheduled to be held on 9th December 2025 at 11:00 am in the Parvati Ghat.
Sinha, known for his soft-spoken and affable nature, had been in several top posts in Tata Steel and other top companies. His visionary leadership was amply highlighted in the new civic amenities and projects that he initiated in the Steel City.
Before taking charge of Tata Steel UISL in 2022, Sinha was the Chief of Corporate Administration in Tata Steel.
Potka MLA Sanjib Sardar said, “His death has left us shocked and sad. It is an irrecoverable loss for Jamshedpur and all its citizens. He was a humble, dedicated, and visionary corporate leader who represented the aspirations of all denizens towards the development of the city’s civic amenities. His leadership abilities were a huge source of inspiration for me,” Sardar said.
Jamshedpur West MLA Saryu Roy expressed deep grief at Sinha’s demise. In his condolence message, Roy said, “Everybody had a lot of hopes associated with him. He was an able leader of the corporate world, and his absence will be felt. His passing away is like a body blow to Jamshedpur’s civic amenity improvement projects.”
