Tata Steel organised 8th Sumilan with vendor partners

Jamshedpur : Tata Steel is committed towards safety measures in its areas of operations. In line with this, eighth �Sumilan� was organized by Tubes Division, Tata Steel at its auditorium on July 19, 2014. The event saw the presence of all its vendor partners.

Sumilan was introduced in October 2013, which is conducted regularly on a monthly basis. This programme acts as a communication platform for the Contractors of the company to share their best practices, recognition for good work and to discuss on important issues. This forum is also used for conducting manthans etc. It is a medium of connectivity between the Company management and the Company Contractors.

Chief Guest on the occasion, Ashish Anupam, EIC, Tubes Division, Tata Steel said �It is a wonderful forum where one to one interaction can be done in a very constructive manner. The target for tubes divison is to benchmark itself as the profit centre of the company .This initiative will help to achieve the cause.� He futher added �We must ensure that Sumilan will be organised on a regular basis and vendor partners will be recognised for their good performance.�

Mr Shyam Sunder, Chief Corporate Safety , Tata Steel briefed about the objective and successful journey of Sumilan at Tata Steel and how it has helped in implementing the new Safety timings.

Vendor partners shared their views about advantages derived from Sumilan and the best practices of their company. Later during the programme , vendors were recognized for their good safety performance. A list of criteria�s for assessment of best contractor was also released by the EIC Tubes and Chief, Corporate Safety.
