Jamshedpur: Social thinker and advocate Sudhir Kumar Pappu today alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is systematically purging Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar from active politics. Reacting to the dramatic shifts in Patna, Pappu claimed that Nitish Kumar committed his “biggest mistake” by supporting the BJP at the Centre and helping Narendra Modi secure the Prime Minister’s office.

Allegations of Political Marginalization
Pappu accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah of long-term planning to sideline the Bihar veteran. He predicts that once the BJP successfully removes Kumar from the Chief Minister’s post, they will install a “rubber stamp” leader in his place.
The advocate also raised several pointed questions regarding the pressure behind this transition:
- Political Surrender: Pappu claims the public now understands the coercive circumstances that forced Kumar’s hand.
- Agency Pressure: He questioned whether central agencies like the CBI used evidence to “pressure or blackmail” the Chief Minister into accepting these new political conditions.
- The “Allied” Pattern: Pappu cited the BJP’s history in Maharashtra with the Shiv Sena and the Pawar family as evidence of a strategy to weaken or dismantle alliance partners.
A Call for Defiance
Pappu challenged Nitish Kumar to prove he has nothing to fear by immediately withdrawing from the BJP-led alliance and pulling support from the Modi government. Such a move, he argues, would expose which JD(U) leaders truly remain loyal to the party versus those leaning toward the BJP.
“Nitish Kumar should join the Grand Alliance and work with Rahul Gandhi and Tejashwi Yadav to protect the future of the JD(U),” Pappu suggested. “Only such a move can help the party survive.”
Future Predictions
The Jamshedpur advocate predicts an imminent split within the Janata Dal (United) into two factions—one aligning with the RJD and the other merging with the BJP. He further characterized the move to transition Kumar to the Rajya Sabha as a calculated strike to remove both Nitish and his son, Nishant Kumar, from the political chessboard permanently.
