Jamshedpur: St. John High School, Jamshedpur, organized a grand “City Explore” educational program on Tuesday for students of Nursery, LKG, UKG, and Classes 1 and 2. The event offered young learners a unique opportunity to understand their city through engaging, experiential activities that brought local geography and civic life to the classroom.
The initiative aimed to familiarize children with Jamshedpur’s iconic landmarks, civic facilities, and social environment. During the program, students explored the significance of prominent locations, including Jubilee Park, the Tata Steel Plant, Dalma Hills, the Subarnarekha River, and Marine Drive. The children observed the city’s industrial heritage and natural beauty with keen interest, learning about environmental balance and urban development.
Fostering Real-Life Learning
By shifting the focus from textbooks to real-world observation, the program helped develop curiosity, confidence, and social awareness among the young participants. School Director G. Francis emphasized that the institution strives to provide meaningful life experiences alongside academic knowledge.
“Our aim is not limited to imparting bookish knowledge but also to provide real-life learning experiences. Activities like ‘City Explore’ help children develop thinking skills and self-reliance from an early age,” Francis stated during the event.
School Principal Ashu Tiwary added that these childhood experiences lay a strong foundation for overall development, helping children understand the society and nature surrounding them.
