SSP launches traffic awareness drive at Sakchi

Jamshedpur, May 14: On the eve of Bollywood star Madhuri Dixit, SSP Anup T Mathew flagged off traffic awareness drive at Sakchi on Sunday.

The die-hard fan of the Bollywood actress Madhuri Dixit’s Pappu Sardar started celebration of his idol’s birthday in a special way today.

Concerned over the rising cases of road mishap, Pappu has devotedly taken on the onus of raising awareness on the subject.

On Sunday, Mathew lauded the efforts of Pappu and also felicitated the family members of three martyrs of district police and 11 martyrs of the Indian Army.

On the occasion, DSP traffic Vivekanand Thakur, senior journalist Brijbhushan Singh and several other dignitaries from across the city were present. The programme was conducted by Jai Prakash Rai.

Like every year, Pappu would spend the entire day among the inmates of the Cheshire Home and Old Age Home tomorrow. He would distribute fruits and gifts to the inmates.

Pappu has been celebrating Dixit’s birthday since 1996. His dedication to the star has no limits. Earlier his neighbours used to consider him crazy, but now they eagerly wait for the annual event, and wholeheartedly join in the revelries.

The purpose of this campaign is to reiterate the safety norms to avoid road accidents. It will motivate people to adhere to road safety norms and inspire road safety violators reminding them that these norms were for their own personal safety. The message conveyed through the awareness drive is urging others to follow traffic rules, he observed.

Pappu said that making people understand the importance of traffic rules is a major challenge which needs to be checked immediately.

The ardent fan said that parents must cooperate with the traffic authorities in order to ensure violation-free passage of traffic in the city.
