Jamshedpur: The Departments of Biotechnology and Agriculture at Srinath University organized an educational visit to the ICAR–Indian Institute of Agricultural Biotechnology (IIAB), Ranchi, providing students with hands-on exposure to advanced research and sustainable agricultural practices.

During the visit, students gained valuable insights into Integrated Farming Systems (IFS), learning how agroforestry, livestock and fisheries worked together to create sustainable and profitable farming models. They also observed modern techniques of mushroom cultivation and witnessed live demonstrations of biochar production, which played a key role in improving soil health.

The programme introduced students to cutting-edge research areas such as nanobiotechnology, chromosomal segregation and genome editing for developing stress-resistant crops. A major highlight was the tour of high-tech laboratories, where students saw advanced instruments like Mass Spectrometry, Real-Time PCR, UHPLC and Gel Electrophoresis in action.

The visit concluded with an interactive session with the Joint Director of ICAR-IIAB, bridging the gap between theoretical learning and practical application, and inspiring students toward research-oriented careers.
