Kolkata: South Eastern Railway (SER) celebrated International Women’s Day with great enthusiasm at its Headquarters in Garden Reach. Anil Kumar Mishra, General Manager, SER, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, alongside Soumotra Majumdar, Additional General Manager and other senior officials. Dr. Mahua Verma, Principal Chief Personnel Officer, welcomed the distinguished guests.
During the event, 55 women employees were felicitated for their outstanding contributions across various departments. Anil Kumar Mishra lauded the efforts of SER’s 7,661 women employees, recognizing their dedication and excellence in roles including Track Maintainer, Loco Pilot, Guard, Station Manager and Lady RPF Personnel.
Highlighting the International Women’s Day 2025 theme—”Accelerate Action”—the General Manager emphasized the importance of celebrating women’s achievements, promoting gender equality and fostering empowerment across social, economic and political spheres.
The celebration featured various activities, including cultural performances by the Headquarters’ cultural team. Over the years, SER has actively conducted events focused on gender sensitization, health and digital awareness, financial literacy, self-defense training and women’s rights seminars across its divisions and workshops
