Jamshedpur, Dec. 2: Shorts 2016, an annual short film festival organized by Jamshedpur-based SPPE (Society for Promotion of Professional Excellence) and Kolkata-based Take 5 Communications, has brought to movie lovers a large collection of short films that ranges from just 2 minutes to 30 minutes that to in different languages and has a unique blend of films by professionals, budding and student film makers.
The first day of the short film festival at Centre for Excellence (CFE), here on Saturday, attracted audience from the corporate houses and the students alike.
A special package of 17 short films ranging from Education for women, Mental Health, Tuberculosis awareness, Poverty, Bribery, Cleanliness, Racism and River pollution are being screened at the two-day festival.
‘Shorts 2016’ was inaugurated by Ashish Mathur, managing director, Jusco on Saturday. The film festival which focuses on the social issues, screened 8 films on day 1 while 9 other films will be screened on the concluding day on Sunday.
Addressing the gathering after the inauguration, Ashish Mathur said, ‘Shorts’ offers perfect platform to the budding filmmakers of Jharkhand. The short film festival gives an identity that differentiates art form, from the conventional big screen. It’s a stage where budding directors learn a lot from the professionals and make it big in the cine world, added Mathur.
At the event Tathagata Bhattacharjee, director and CEO of Take 5 Communications, Goutam Shankar, chief coordinator of �Shorts�, Marilyn Anklesaria, chief, CFE and others were present.
The festival, now in its 9th year, is the first ever short film festival in Jamshedpur which became an annual event thanks to the overwhelming response from the people over the years.
