Jamshedpur, Feb 3:Panic gripped the prestigious Ramakrishna Mission School at Sidhgora on Tuesday after a sharp-edged weapon was found in the bag of a Class VII student during school hours. The incident, involving a dispute between two minor students, led to chaos on campus and prompted immediate police intervention.
According to sources, the two students had been at odds over an issue for the past few days. The situation escalated during class when a verbal altercation turned serious and one of the students allegedly pulled out a machete-like weapon from his school bag. The sight of the weapon triggered fear among classmates, who scrambled in panic.
Teachers acted swiftly to control the situation and ensured that no student sustained any serious injury. The school management immediately informed the Sidhgora police station. Police personnel reached the spot promptly and took both minor students into custody for questioning.
The police are investigating how such a weapon came into the possession of a student of such a young age and what circumstances led to the incident.
Counseling of the children is also underway as part of the inquiry.
Taking the matter seriously, the school administration has initiated disciplinary proceedings against the students involved and has called their parents for discussions.
The incident has raised serious concerns among parents across the city, once again bringing the issue of student safety and security measures in schools into sharp focus.
Authorities say the episode is not merely an isolated school dispute but a stark warning, underscoring the urgent need for collective introspection on child behavior, parental supervision, and campus safety.
