Jamshedpur : Seven persons were injured in separate road mishaps at Patamda and Ichagarh police station areas.
The injured have been admitted to MGM Medical College and Hospital, where condition of one of the injured identified as Jogeswar Oraon (45) is described as critical.
The other injured who have been admitted to the medical college hospital have been identified as Kartik Majhi, Dhananjay Barik, Ranjit Mahto, Shyam Sahis, Balram Rajak and Lakha Oraon.
In one of the mishaps, two persons were injured as the bike they were riding was hit by a truck at Gurma village on Chandil-Ichagar Road under Ichagarh police station area at 8.30 am about 35 kilometres away from here today.
The victims, Jogeswar Oraon and nephew Lakha Oraon were going to a relative’s house in Ichagarh from Bordi village in Chandil where they resided. As they were negotiating the Chandil-Ichagarh Road, a truck hit them while overtaking the bike.
Officer-in-charge, Ichagarh police station, Amerjeet Prasad said that the truck driver fled the scene after causing the mishap. “We are trying to trace out the truck that hit the bikers,” said the officer-in-charge, adding that they have registered a case of rash driving against the driver of the unidentified truck.
In another incident five persons were injured as the pick-up van they were travelling was overturned at Samatajobra village under Kamalpur police station area in Patamda in the early morning today. Those sustained injuries belonged to a marriage party and were going to Purulia from Patamda.
Officer-in-charge, Kamalpur police station, Mahabir Oraon said that they have seized the pick-up van and registered a case of drunken-driving against the driver of the vehicle.
