Jamshedpur: Anil Kumar Mishra, General Manager of South Eastern Railway, issued a stern warning on Monday regarding railway land and illegal leases. Under new Railway Board regulations, the Railways will no longer lease out shops on its land. The GM clarified that authorities will deem any shop illegal if its lease has expired or if an unauthorized individual occupies the space.
During his Tatanagar inspection, Mishra emphasized that the Railways will intensify its drive to reclaim encroached land. He explicitly shifted the responsibility for rehabilitating evicted shopkeepers to the State Government, noting that the Railways will take stringent measures to clear its territory. He further warned that even shops transferred to family members without valid renewals would face immediate action.
Modern Training and AI Integration
In a major boost to employee development, the GM inaugurated a state-of-the-art Multi-Disciplinary Divisional Training Institute (MDDTI) in Bagbera. The facility, housed in a renovated railway school, features smart classrooms, digital learning systems, and functional models of broad-gauge tracks and bogies for hands-on practice.
Infrastructure and Redevelopment Update
Mishra confirmed that the Tatanagar Junction redevelopment will take approximately two and a half years to complete. Currently, crews are focusing on removing encroachments and shifting utility lines. Additionally, the Railways has sanctioned a fourth line between Kharagpur–Howrah and Kharagpur–Jharsuguda. Construction of the third line between Adityapur and Kharagpur is in its final stages and should finish by May.
