Saryu Roy inspects water towers in Mango, announces agitation plan

Jamshedpur: Senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader and former MLA of Jamshedpur West Saryu Roy today said the party activists would be gheraoing the office of the chief engineer of the drinking water and sanitation department in Ranchi on Tuesday in case water supply pipes were not laid in Mango.

Roy, who inspected six water towers in Mango in the morning, said the condition of drinking water supply in the area was deplorable. He said the water towers in the area were in shambles and could collapse any time. He said recently the walls of a water tower had collapsed, causing damage to several houses situated nearby.

The water tanks in the locality need urgent repair. If the repair is not done promptly, the tanks may collapse anytime and cause loss of lives or property. Due to the negligence of the authorities concerned, the situation has worsened. Since pipelines have not been laid to the completion in the area, a large number of households are not getting sufficient water, said Roy.

The former legislator also pointed out the power crisis in the area. He said he had tried to get a power grid sub station constructed in Baliguma. But land could not be made available for the said project. He said the local residents were devoid of regular power supply due to long neglect by the state government.

Roy inaugurated an office of the BJP in Olidih in the evening. He said the office would help party workers discuss local issues much more conveniently.
