Jamshedpur, Dec 18: Members and guests of Sarojini Memorial Trust (SMT) on Friday observed the 36th death anniversary of Sarojini Devi at a special ceremony organized at the Bistupur Q Road Club House. The proceedings which commenced at 9:30 am with prayers performed by the Trust Chairman MS Shekhar Rao, his wife M Venkat Lakshmi, son M Kartick Rao, son-in-law I Santosh and daughter M Madhuri and other members of the Trust included recitations and incantations from the Holy Bhagwat Gita performed by Gourango Das and his team.
After the conclusion of prayer rituals, MS Shekhar Rao and his family members served food to the poor provided them clothes and alms. In the veening, the family members organized special meals for 101 Sadhus and gifted them blankets. Later in the evening, a Bhajan Sandhya was organized in which popular devotional singer Krishnamurthy and his team weaved an aura of piety with their melodious renditions. The songs were followed by dinner for the SMT committee members and guests.
