Sarkar Women�s Football Academy wins JSA League

Jamshedpur, July 29: The Tata Steel Sports department began various events in celebration of JRD Tata birth anniversary from July 18 onwards. The various sporting events included �Inter Divisional Badminton for Ladies�, �Inter Divisional Table Tennis�, �Road Safety Awareness & Dart Event for School Van Drivers�, �JSA Hockey League�, �Inter School Athletics meet for JOGGA Schools�, �Waiting Parents Rangoli Contest�. 

This year, the celebrations at JRD Stadium also came alive with the historic, first ever �Women�s Football League� organized by the Jamshedpur Sporting Association (JSA). Seven teams from Jamshedpur constituting girls of age 16 years and above battled it out for the cup from 19 to 29 July. At the end, Sarkar Women�s Football Academy (SWFA) defeated Sheila Devi Memorial Football Club (SDMFC) by 2 goals to emerge winners. From SWFA Rani Ravi Das scored two goals at 28 and 38 minutes to help her team win the title. Referees Rakesh Kumar Kisku, Sharel Kujur, Pinki Mardi and Somai Soren officiated the match. Best Player of the league was awarded to Rani Rabi Das of SWFA for scoring 7 goals in entire league.

Arjuna Awardee and former Indian national football women�s team superstar,  Oinam Bembem Devi who has come to Jamshedpur to further encourage and motivate women footballers from the steel city graced the occasion as Chief Guest and watched the match. 

Deepa Verma, Chief HRM, Tata Steel inaugurated the final match. Manmohan Prasad, Deputy Collector, East Singhbhum and District Sports Officer were present as Guests of Honour and distributed prizes to the winners along with Purnima Mahato, Coach Indian Archery women  team and Vaishnavi, National Swimmer of Jharkhand. Saroj Lakra SAF Games Gold medalist was also present on the occasion.

Avinash Kumar, Secretary, JSA; Binod Kumar Singh Asst. Secy; JSA, Hassan Imam, Firoz Khan, Naveen Sundi, Miiler Routh, Akash Routh, R N Murmu, Victor Somaya, S B Singh, and many ex footballers, JFC employees Raja Bhattacharya, Vikas Anthony, Prashant, JSA Referees and employees of Tata Steel sports department were also present.

Devi was also taken on a tour of the football facilities in Jamshedpur which included the Tata Football Academy and Flatlets as well as the JRD Tata Sports Complex.
