Saraikela police to get tougher with eve teasers, molesters

Saraikela, Sept 30: Women, young girls and school students will now feel safe while out of home as the district police is all braced up to take tougher stance against eve teasers and molesters. This was stated by Saraikela-Kharsawan Superintendant of Police Md Arshi. He said that the police had always been alert to such problems and that vigil to ensure safety for women would be reinforced.

Arshi said that security at busy roads, street crossings and other localities would be beefed up so that women, young girls and school students were not teased or followed by wayward people. The SP said that tough measures were being planned to take immediate action and legal measures would be taken on receipt of such complaints. These measures would enable women to move out without any qualms.

A Majhi Tola woman resident in Adityapur complained of being harassed by a young man over a long period of time. On receipt of information, the police swung into action and arrested the accused Karan Singh and sent him to jail.

SP Md Arshi said that women, young girls and students who are harassed on the roads should cast off all inhibitions and complain to the police. He said, �Their identities will be kept secret. Any unethical behaviour if suppressed or tolerated will only provoke such unethical acts. Such incidents of teasing, passing obscene comments or phone calls should be immediately brought to the notice of the police. Police are always alert towards people�s protection. We are setting up special help desks at every police station where complaints against teasing and molestations will be recorded. Police help is also available round the clock by dialing 100.�
