Saloon owners again meet DC, demand reopening of beauty parlours in Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur, June 5: City-based saloon owners have demanded that salons and beauty parlours should be allowed to function under standard operating procedures (SOPs) to control the spread of Covid-19. On Friday a delegation of parlour owners and beauticians met the deputy commissioner and handed a memorandum. Earlier too, a delegation had met the district authorities raising a similar demand.

They said that thousands of workers associated with the field had been hit by the lockdown in Jamshedpur alone. The delegation said that several operators and staff members are reeling under the financial crisis. The administration needs to understand their plight. An owner said that the lockdown had caused more suffering to the families of hairdressers than the pandemic. There is hunger and starvation in the families of all workmen.

A member of the delegation Dilip Choudhary said that COVID-19 has struck a huge blow to the incomes of barbers, hairstylists and beauticians. We will take preventive steps like using and throwing away towels, gloves, and masks, he said.
