RSB Foundation Flags Off ‘Cancer Screening on Wheels’ to Reach Rural Jharkhand

Jamshedpur: Marking World Cancer Day, a major healthcare initiative aimed at strengthening cancer prevention and early detection in rural Jharkhand was launched in Seraikela-Kharsawan district on Wednesday. RSB Foundation flagged off a mobile cancer screening unit under its “Cancer Screening on Wheels” initiative to extend cancer screening services to people living in remote and underserved areas.

The mobile unit was formally launched at the RSB Transmissions (India) Limited Unit-1 campus in Gamharia. The unit was jointly flagged off by S.K. Behera, Vice President and Managing Director, RSB Transmissions (India) Limited, and Priyanka Behera, Head of CSR and Director, RSB Foundation. The initiative is part of Project Sambhavi and is designed to take essential screening facilities directly to rural communities where access to hospitals and diagnostic services remains limited.

The launch marked the culmination of nearly a year of sustained planning and preparation. Several distinguished guests were present on the occasion, including RSB Group Vice Chairman and noted philanthropist S.K. Behera, CSR Head and Company Director Priyanka Behera, Jaya Singh, Sachikant Tripathi, MTMH Administrative Head Amitabh Chatterjee, Jamshedpur Cancer Society Vice Chairperson Dr. Sujata Mitra, Rotary Club President Ashok Jha, along with Abhijit Mitra, Kamal Agarwal, and other dignitaries.

Addressing the gathering, speakers emphasized that early detection of cancer significantly improves treatment outcomes and survival rates. They highlighted that the mobile screening unit would be a lifeline for people in rural and remote areas who often delay diagnosis due to distance, cost, or lack of awareness. Along with screening services, the unit will also focus on spreading awareness about cancer symptoms, prevention, and the importance of timely medical consultation.

RSB Foundation reiterated that the initiative reflects its core philosophy of “humility in service” and its continued commitment to improving health, education, and overall social well-being. The foundation has been actively working across multiple social sectors, and the mobile cancer screening project is being seen as a crucial addition to its healthcare interventions.

The project stands out as a strong example of collaborative effort, bringing together corporate, healthcare, and social institutions. The combined support of RSB Foundation, MTMH, Tata Steel Foundation, and the Rotary Club has played a key role in turning the vision of accessible cancer screening into reality.

The “Cancer Screening on Wheels” initiative is expected to make a meaningful impact by promoting early diagnosis and awareness, thereby strengthening the fight against cancer in Jharkhand’s rural heartland.
