Rs 20 Lakh looted from Indian Bank in Jharkhand’s Dumka

Dumka, August 8: The Indian Bank branch at the Hansdiha main market was looted by five armed criminals on Thursday afternoon. The criminals held the staff at gun point and cleaned the bank of approximately Rs 20 lakh. The Indian Bank branch is in the Handiha police station area. The Indian Bank branch is situated in the Saraiyahat block area near the Jharkhand-Bihar border, equidistant from Dumka, Deoghar, Godda, and Bihar’s Banka district.

According to reports, the five criminals arrived at the bank on bikes. After barging into the branch, they held the employees at gunpoint and looted the money. The terrified employees were unable to resist the robbers.

Following the incident, Jarmundi SDPO Santosh Kumar and the Hansdiha police arrived at the scene and began investigations. They reviewed the CCTV footage in the bank. At the time of reporting, the police had intensified their efforts to apprehend the criminals.

SDPO Santosh Kumar confirmed the involvement of five criminals in the heist, though the exact amount of money taken away was yet to be ascertained. The police are continuing their investigation based on the CCTV footage captured inside and outside the bank.
