Jamshedpur: The Rotary Club of Jamshedpur Midtown (RCJMT), in collaboration with the Rotaract Club of Jamshedpur Green City, organized an awareness programme at Lajpat Public School, Sakchi, focusing on two critical issues affecting today’s youth—online gaming and menstrual health.
The programme featured two expert sessions aimed at promoting informed choices, healthy habits, and overall well-being among students. Career counsellor and Rotaract President Niraj Kumar addressed students on “Online Gaming: Merits & Demerits.” While highlighting the positive aspects of online gaming, such as skill-building, teamwork, and recreation, he also cautioned against excessive screen time and gaming addiction. He shared practical strategies to maintain balance and prevent addiction, encouraging students to adopt disciplined and mindful digital habits. The session was highly interactive, prompting students to reflect on their own gaming behaviour.
The second session was conducted by Preeti Saini, consultant psychologist, motivational speaker, PhD scholar, author, and certified Menstrupedia educator. Speaking on “Menstrual Health,” she emphasized the need to break long-standing taboos, promote hygienic practices, and encourage open conversations around menstruation. Conducted under the district Menstrupedia Project, the session empowered students to view menstrual health as a natural and essential aspect of physical and mental well-being. Free Menstrupedia comic books were also distributed to girls.
Around 200 students and teachers attended the programme. The sessions were well received, with enthusiastic participation and thoughtful interactions. School Principal Ranjit Ghosh lauded the initiative and expressed appreciation for the clubs’ efforts, requesting that such awareness programmes be organized regularly to help shape informed, responsible, and confident students.
The programme was also attended by Santosh, Neha Kumari, Deepa Sharma, Harsh Bhardwaj, Aditya Chobay, and Jyoti Kumari.
