Jamshedpur, July 12: Rotary club of Jamshedpur West always strive for betterment of society and welfare of women in general. Every year the Club runs Adult literacy class in different areas of the city for functional literacy and after completions of course, takes examinations and issue certificates.�
In this Rotary year, first adult literacy class was inaugurated on Tuesday at Birsa Basti, Sonari, Marine Drive area by renowned educationist Maya Sahay who runs school for underprivileged children at Kaiser Bungalow, Pardih Road.
Around 30 ladies were enrolled for functional literacy class for the span of 3-4 months and after completion of the course, Examinations will be conducted through NIOS examination system with help of district authorities.
Along with basic education of Three As, ladies will also be taught on importance of maintaining general health and hygiene, basic manners and etiquette. Legal advices and health talks will also be arranged on regular intervals.
Teacher Mamoni, who has experience of running adult literacy classes, will take the sessions. Earlier, the event started with lighting of the ceremonial lamp and talk on virtues of educating oneself by Alakananda, Maya Sahay , Nibha Mishra and Anupama.
