Roshni Jamshedpur gets two Eye Donors in a week

Jamshedpur : Roshni, NGO working for the promotion of Eye Donation and subsequent transplantation of corneas to corneally blind person for restoration of eye sight got two calls within a week for Eye Donations from the family of deceased.

One donation however could not take place as the cornea of ninty year old lady was not found suitable for donation due to old age and other complications. But the second call which came Parvinder Singh Kapoor, Assistant Secretary of Roshni from one Jain Community who are always there for this great cause world wide was successfully harvested.

Kapil Valani who was just twenty eight years of age died all of a sudden due to cardiac arrest. On receiving the call from the family who stays in Sakchi Parvinder Singh Kapoor along with Dr. D. K.Singhal, Senior Ophthalmologist along with technician Mahanand Prasad from Jamshedpur Eye Hospital rushed to Critical Care Unit of Brahmananda Hospital, Tamolia where the body was kept within the stipulated time harvested both the corneas which were found to be suitable.

Subsequently both the corneas were rushed to Prova Eye Bank as potential young recipient listed with Roshni were not in town so instead of getting the precious cornea go waste it was sent to Disha Eye Hospital, Barrackpore where it has been successfully planted to two visually blind person.
