Rising crime sparks BJP protest in Jamshedpur

Mail News Service

Jamshedpur, Jan 17: Alarmed by the deteriorating law and order situation, escalating crime, and a spate of kidnapping incidents, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Jamshedpur unit, has announced a major street protest against what it terms administrative apathy.

On Saturday, thousands of BJP workers will stage a demonstration outside the office of the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) to press for immediate corrective action.

The announcement follows the daylight kidnapping of the son of a prominent businessman from the CH Area in Sonari, an incident that has sent shockwaves across the city and underscored the growing audacity of criminals.

The BJP has alleged that criminals are operating fearlessly, while the administration remains a mute spectator.

Addressing the media, BJP district president Sanjeev Sinha said that the fear of the police has completely vanished from the minds of criminals, who are openly challenging law enforcement on a daily basis.

Launching a sharp attack on the ruling JMM–Congress alliance, he remarked that such incidents are reminiscent of the “jungle raj” of the 1990s.

Sinha further stated that residents of Jamshedpur—often referred to as the state’s industrial capital—including traders, women, and ordinary citizens, are living under a constant sense of insecurity.

He accused the Hemant Soren-led government of failing to provide basic security to the people.

To voice public anger and demand the restoration of peace and effective policing, BJP workers will assemble at the party’s district office in Sakchi at 11 a.m. on Saturday and proceed in a foot march to the SSP office for the protest.

The BJP district president has appealed to party workers as well as concerned citizens of the city to participate in the demonstration and stand united against rising crime.
