Jamshedpur, March 30: After enduring intense heat through the day, residents of Jamshedpur finally experienced much-needed relief as torrential rain, accompanied by strong winds and hail, swept across the city in the evening.
Earlier in the day, Jamshedpur recorded the season’s highest maximum temperature at 38.4°C, reflecting the severity of the ongoing heat spell.
Elsewhere in the state, Daltonganj emerged as the hottest location with a maximum temperature of 40.2°C, while Chaibasa in neighbouring West Singhbhum district registered 38.6°C.
The weather took a dramatic turn by evening as torrential rain lashed Jamshedpur and parts of the Kolhan region.
Several areas also witnessed hailstorms, with wind speeds reaching up to 40 Kmph, intensifying the impact of the sudden change.
While the rainfall brought respite from the oppressive heat, it also caused disruptions.
Power supply was affected in several areas under the JBVNL command due to strong winds and adverse conditions.
In addition, waterlogging was reported from several low-lying localities, leading to inconvenience for commuters and slowing down traffic movement.
Despite the temporary disruptions, the sharp drop in temperature brought visible relief to residents, marking a welcome break from the sweltering conditions.
