Record 3,140 units blood collected at Tata Motors Workers Union camp in Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur, March 5: The blood donation camp organized by the Tata Motors Workers Union (TMWU) on the occasion of Founder’s Day created a record with a remarkable 3,140 units of blood collected in a single day. A total of 3,499 donors had registered for the camp, reflecting overwhelming participation from workers and residents of the city.

Blood donors began arriving as early as 5:10 a.m., and the first donation was made at 5:20 a.m. Initially, there was a huge rush of donors, but the team from the Jamshedpur Blood Bank along with paramedical staff efficiently managed the situation by registering donors systematically. Five counters were set up for registration to ensure smooth arrangements.

Union President Shashi Bhushan Prasad and General Secretary R.K. Singh remained present throughout the morning, inspecting the arrangements and encouraging donors. A notable highlight of the camp was the large participation of women donors. Special facilities were arranged for them to ensure a smooth and quick donation process.

The NAPS trainees also displayed great enthusiasm, with dozens of them donating blood for the first time on the occasion of Founder’s Day. The heavy rush of donors gradually subsided after 8 a.m. Adequate arrangements for refreshments, water, tea, and meals were also made for all participants.

Expressing gratitude, Union President Shashi Bhushan Prasad and General Secretary R.K. Singh jointly thanked all blood donors, paramedical staff, the VBDA team, visiting guests, senior management officials, members of the R.K. Singh Fans Club, the police administration, union officials and committee members who contributed to the success of the camp. General Secretary R.K. Singh said that the record of collecting 3,140 units of blood belonged to the workers and the people of the city, and he expressed heartfelt thanks to everyone involved.

 

Grand Statue of J.N. Tata unveiled at union premises

On the same occasion, a grand statue of the founder, J.N. Tata was unveiled at the Tata Motors Workers Union premises. The unveiling ceremony was attended by several prominent dignitaries including Tata Motors Executive Director Girish Wagh, CHRO Sitaram Kandi, VPO Vishal Badshah, VP (ERC, Power Systems) Michael Benz, VP (ERC) Anirudh Kulkarni, VP and Business Head (Trucks) Rajesh Kaul, Senior General Manager (Product and Planning) Rajesh Khanna, Tata Motors Jamshedpur Plant Head Anurag Chharia, Senior General Managers Umesh Tambolkar and Anand S, HR Head Pranav Kumar, ER Head Soumik Roy, as well as former Union Minister and former Chief Minister of Jharkhand Arjun Munda.

Union President Shashi Bhushan Prasad and General Secretary R.K. Singh welcomed the guests with bouquets, traditional shawls and mementos. The statue of J.N. Tata was formally unveiled by the dignitaries through a ribbon-cutting ceremony and the pressing of a ceremonial button.
