Ranchi reports 7 new Coronavirus case, tally rises to 56 in Jharkhand

Ranchi, April 23: Seven more people have tested positive for Covid-19 in Ranchi, said Nitin Madan Kulkarni, Jharkhand’s health secretary, on Thursday. “Seven more persons have tested positive for Covid-19 in Ranchi (6 Hindpiri and 1 Bedo). Total positive cases in the state rise to 56,” said Kulkarni.

Among the total people infected as on date, 8 have recovered and 3 have passed away.

Officials in the health department told that out of the seven new cases that emerged on Thursday, one is from Bedo in Ranchi, while the other six persons belong to Hindpiri area of Ranchi, the hotspot of Coronavirus in Jharkhand.

Red Zone Ranchi�s Hindpiri has till date reported 32 cases while Bedo has two cases and Bariatu have one corona case. Total case in Ranchi have risen to 35, Bokaro 10, Hazaribagh 3, Two each in Dhanbad and Simdega while Deoghar, Giridih, Koderma and Garhwa have one case each.  

There are around eight thousand families living in Hindpiri locality. The residents here do not easily agree to a coronavirus test.

Jharkhand so far has also registered three deaths of coronavirus, two in Ranchi while another person was from Bokaro.

Notably, the State registered first-ever case of coronavirus when a Malaysian woman, who had come after attending Tablighi Jamaat in Nizamuddin, was tested positive on March 31. She, along with 17 other foreign nationals, was recovered from a local mosque in Ranchi on March 29 following which they were sent to the quarantine centre at Khelgaon in Ranchi. Later she was tested positive while others did not show any symptoms of the virus.

Garhwa on Wednesday became the ninth district in Jharkhand to report COVID-19 case. Of the 24 districts, 9 have reported Corona cases. Apart from Ranchi, Hazaribagh, Bokaro, Koderma, Giridih, Simdega, Dhanbad and Deoghar have positive cases.
