Jamshedpur, Feb 3: The central government has allocated Rs 1147 crore for the redevelopment of three major railway stations in Jharkhand—Ranchi, Hatia and Tatanagar. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw shared this update via video conferencing on Monday, February 3, 2025.

Of the total amount, Ranchi railway station will receive Rs 444 crore for redevelopment, Hatia station will undergo a Rs 355 crore transformation and Rs 348 crore has been earmarked for the modernization of Tatanagar station in Jamshedpur.
“The redevelopment will enhance passenger amenities, improve connectivity and modernize infrastructure,” Vaishnaw stated.

The redevelopment work at Ranchi railway station includes the construction of a new station building in the southern section, additional residential quarters, platform number 6, a foot overbridge and upgraded entry roads. Underground and overhead water tanks are also being built to enhance facilities.
At Hatia station, a second entry gate is under construction in the western section, along with residential blocks. The relocation of offices is also in progress. Rs 355 crore has been set aside for these developments in the 2025 budget, as announced by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.
Tatanagar station in Jamshedpur is also set for a major revamp. The Railway Ministry has invited EPC tenders for the project, which will open on April 9, 2025. Rs 348 crore will be spent on its redevelopment to enhance passenger comfort and station aesthetics.
The redevelopment of these three key railway stations is expected to significantly boost railway infrastructure in Jharkhand, ensuring a better travel experience for passengers. Officials from the South Eastern Railway Ranchi Division were also present at the announcement.
