Jamshedpur: Jharkhand is witnessing a sharp and sudden shift in weather conditions, with a pronounced dip in temperature accompanied by dense fog and intermittent drizzle across several districts.

From today, Monday, the state began experiencing intense cold and heavy fog, marking the onset of a strong winter phase.
Places like Jamshedpur, Khunti, Ranchi and several other adjoining region witnessed light drizzle today, leading to a further drop in daytime temperatures and increasing the chill factor.
Residents across the state have begun feeling the onset of a biting winter.

Commuters , office-goers and school students in Jamshedpur and several other places had a harrowing time today because of the intermittent drizzle and intense day time cold.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) indicates that this cold phase is likely to continue for the next four days, pulling mercury levels even lower in many parts of the state.
The impact was already visible in high-altitude and forest-adjacent areas, where fog cover has reduced visibility during morning hours, affecting road movement and daily commuting.
The coldest temperature in the state was recorded in Gumla, where the minimum temperature dropped to 10.3°C, marking one of the lowest readings of the season so far.
With northwesterly winds strengthening and no significant synoptic system offering relief, Jharkhand is bracing for an extended cold wave spell.
Local authorities may advise precautions for vulnerable groups, including children, the elderly, and those with respiratory conditions, as fog and humidity could aggravate seasonal ailments.
Meanwhile, rural pockets are preparing traditional measures—bonfires, warm beverages, and protective layering—to cope with the rising winter severity.
Overall, Jharkhand is set for a colder, foggier week ahead, with weather patterns indicating a firm entry into peak winter conditions.
