Jamshedpur, Sept. 2 : In a major fire mishap properties worth over Rs 5 lakh was gutted at a house on Bagbera-Jagannathpur Road under Bagberapolice station area on Monday morning.The fire was triggered due to leakage in an LPG cylinder at the house of oneKalicharanTuddu.
In the mishap, the entire house-hold articles and foodgrains were gutted in the fire, but no one was injured.
Two fire tenders had rushed to the spot, but after two hours of the incident and by that most of the household articles had already been gutted.
OC, Bagberapolice station Madan Sharma confirmed about the incident and said that they had pressed fire tenders into service as soon as they got the information.
“As per our investigation an LPG cylinder had caught fire, causing the fire brigade to take about half-an-hour for dousing the fire from the burning LPG cylinder,” said Sharma.
The house owner, KalicharanTuddu said around midnight power supply got tripped due to the rains in the night.
“When the power supply came back, suddenly there was a bang at the house and it was due to bursting of an electric bulb due to flow of high voltage electricity. I raised an alarm and made the family members to wake up and go out of the room,” Tuddu (42) who works in a private company at Sundarnagar said.
Tuddu said there was a marriage ceremony at his house recently and they had kept Rs 70,000 in a wooden almirah. He said the cash, beside educational certificates and costly clothes were gutted along with electrical appliances and TV set.
