Jamshedpur, June 8: The Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee (JNAC) has taken a stringent stance against illegal constructions, announcing that such buildings will no longer receive electricity and water connections. In a letter addressed to Tata Steel UISL (JUSCO), the JNAC’s Dy. Municipal Commissioner, Krishna Kumar, directed that connections should only be granted upon submission of completion and occupancy certificates.

The directive emphasized that buildings under construction or those constructed in violation of approved maps would be denied essential utilities. Action plan is being prepared against illegal structures in areas like Sakchi, Golmuri, Sonari, Kadma, and Bistupur.

JNAC was poised to cut off electricity and water connections to sealed buildings, marking a continuation of measures initiated in 2011 following High Court orders. Seventy buildings then were sealed for non-compliance with regulatory standards.
