Operation Meghaburu ‘Historic’, Says DGP Tadasha Mishra; Security Personnel Honoured in Chaibasa

Chaibasa: Director General of Police, Jharkhand, Tadasha Mishra termed Operation Meghaburu, launched against Naxalites in the Saranda forest of West Singhbhum district, as a historic and landmark success in Jharkhand’s fight against Left-Wing Extremism. Addressing the media in Chaibasa on Saturday, the DGP said the operation stands as a shining example of precision planning, inter-force coordination, and effective use of modern technology.

The DGP was in Chaibasa to review the multi-day anti-Naxal operation and to honour the personnel involved for their courage and professionalism. A special ceremony was organized in which officers and jawans from the Jharkhand Police, CRPF, CoBRA, and Jharkhand Jaguar units were felicitated for their exemplary role in the operation.

Earlier in the day, DGP Tadasha Mishra held a closed-door meeting with senior police and paramilitary officers in Chaibasa, during which he conducted a detailed review of Operation Meghaburu. The meeting focused on operational planning, intelligence gathering, use of technology, and ground coordination among various forces.

Senior officials from the Jharkhand Police, CRPF, and intelligence agencies were present during the review. The DGP lauded the meticulous planning and seamless execution of the operation, stating that such coordination has set a benchmark for future counter-insurgency operations across the country.

Speaking to reporters after the meeting, DGP Mishra said, “Operation Meghaburu is a successful operation that reflects the best example of coordination between technology and security forces. The bravery, discipline, and patience shown by our personnel in extremely challenging terrain deserve the highest appreciation.”

He added that the operation has significantly weakened the operational strength of the banned CPI (Maoist) organization in the Saranda region, once considered a stronghold of the extremists.

CRPF Inspector General Saket Kumar Singh informed the media that 17 bodies of slain Naxalites have been recovered so far from the encounter and search operations conducted in the Saranda forest area. He confirmed that all the deceased have been identified and were notorious and hardcore Naxalites involved in serious criminal activities across Jharkhand and neighbouring states.

IG Singh further stated that a total of 14 deadly weapons, including sophisticated firearms, have been recovered during the search operations conducted so far. Additional combing operations are still underway to ensure that no remnants of the Naxalite group remain in the area.

“This operation has become a precise and excellent example for the entire country, showcasing outstanding coordination among various police and paramilitary forces,” IG Singh said.

 Personnel Honoured for Bravery

During the ceremony held in Chaibasa, DGP Tadasha Mishra personally encouraged and honoured the personnel involved in Operation Meghaburu. Officers and jawans were praised for maintaining high morale, operational discipline, and restraint during the prolonged encounter in difficult forest terrain.

The DGP said the success of the operation was possible due to the collective efforts of ground forces, intelligence units, and leadership at all levels.

Reiterating the state government’s stand, DGP Mishra made a direct appeal to the remaining Naxalites to abandon the path of violence and return to the mainstream.

“There is no future in violence. The government has opened doors for development, dialogue, and rehabilitation. Those who lay down arms will be given an opportunity to live a dignified life,” he said, urging Naxalite cadres to take advantage of the state’s surrender and rehabilitation policy.
