NIT Jamshedpur Signs MoU with IIT Roorkee

Jamshedpur: The National Institute of Technology (NIT) Jamshedpur signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee on March 20, 2026, at IIT Roorkee. The MoU was signed by Prof. (Dr.) Goutam Sutradhar, Director, NIT Jamshedpur, and Prof. Kamal Kishore Pant, Director, IIT Roorkee, in the presence of Dr. Surajit Kundu and Dr. Sai Ramudu Meka.

The agreement aims to strengthen academic and research collaboration between the two premier institutions. It will promote joint research projects, joint Ph.D. supervision, student and faculty exchange programs, internship opportunities, and startup incubation initiatives.

Prof. Sutradhar emphasized that the MoU will be implemented in its true spirit to deliver tangible benefits to students and faculty. He encouraged effective utilization of shared facilities such as research parks, innovation centres, and incubation ecosystems. He also noted the strong academic linkage, as many faculty members of NIT Jamshedpur are alumni of IIT Roorkee.

During the visit, Prof. Sutradhar and Dr. Kundu toured key facilities at IIT Roorkee, including the Tinkering Lab, Design and Innovation Centre, Incubation Centre, and CSIR–CBRI, exploring future collaborative opportunities.
