New Year 2026 Traffic Alert: Jamshedpur Police Ban Heavy Vehicles from Dec 31–Jan 1, Checkposts on High Alert

Jamshedpur: The City Police have rolled out a special traffic management plan with partial restrictions across the city to accord a peaceful and safe welcome to the New Year 2026. Keeping in mind the expected surge in traffic, New Year celebrations, crowd movement, and overall road safety, traffic curbs will remain in force for two days.

According to the plan, the restrictions will be effective from 5:00 pm on December 31, 2025, to 12:00 midnight on January 1, 2026. During this period, the entry of heavy vehicles on major city roads will be completely prohibited. The ban will apply to trucks, trailers, containers, dumpers, and all commercial goods carriers. However, buses connected with essential services will be exempted and allowed to operate normally.

According to city police officials, the restrictions will be enforced strictly from 5:00 pm to 2:00 am on December 31, and again from 6:00 am to 12:00 midnight on January 1. Police surveillance will be intensified on designated bus routes to prevent congestion and disorder. To ensure smooth traffic flow during the New Year celebrations, additional traffic police personnel have been deployed in crowded areas across the city.

Strict monitoring and enforcement will be carried out in key locations, including Bistupur, Golmuri, Sakchi, Kadma, Sonari, Mango, Azadnagar, Ulidih, Sidgora, Telco, Tatanagar Railway Station, the JNAC area, Subhash Maidan–Circuit House Road, Jubilee Park Road, Kalimati Road, and all major checkposts on NH-33 leading into the city. Patrolling teams, the traffic department, and the police control room will coordinate with each other to ring in the New Year in a safe and lawful manner.

Superintendent of Police for Jamshedpur City, Kumar Shivashish, has appealed to citizens to welcome the New Year with joy, peace, and restraint. He urged people to avoid unnecessary crowding and reckless behavior, including overspeeding, and to cooperate with the police to help maintain law and order during the celebrations.
