Nationwide indefinite ration strike decision from Jan 1 in Dumka

Dumka: A meeting of the Public Distribution System Shopkeepers Association in the Saraiyahat block took place in the Dhanvai Panchayat building under Hansdiha. Chaired by the block president of the association, Jeevan Prasad Mandal, the meeting had Omkarnath Jha, Jharkhand State President and National Executive President of All India Fair Price Shop Dealers Federation, as the chief guest.

During the meeting, Omkarnath Jha highlighted that the commission, amounting to crores of rupees for the grains distributed in 2022 under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana, has not been paid to the sellers. Despite the lack of positive initiatives in this regard, no commission has been disbursed. The distribution commission under the National Food Security Act (NFSA) is also delayed, and issues such as shortage in food grains, non-maintenance of stock and sales registers despite online systems, delayed provision of network servers, supply of incorrect weight of food grains, and compassionate disruption will be raised during the movement.

As a result of these concerns, the meeting concluded with the decision to launch a nationwide indefinite ration strike starting January 1st, drawing attention to the challenges faced by fair price shopkeepers in the region.
