Nationwide campaign in favour of Indian goods from August 10

Jamshedpur: Extending strong support to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s appeal to “buy and sell Indian goods,” the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) has announced a nationwide campaign, “Indian Goods – Our Self-Respect,” to promote indigenous products and strengthen the spirit of Atmanirbhar Bharat. The decision was taken at the two-day National Traders Conference held in New Delhi, which saw the participation of more than 150 prominent trade leaders from 26 states. The campaign will officially begin on August 10 and will be carried out across the country through the participation of over 48,000 trade organisations.

CAT National General Secretary and Delhi Chandni Chowk MP Praveen Khandelwal, along with National Joint General Secretary Suresh Sonthalia, said the traders unanimously agreed to make the campaign a movement to counter the monopolistic policies of foreign companies. “The Prime Minister’s appeal is a symbol of India’s identity. By prioritising Indian products, we not only boost our business but also strengthen the nation’s economy and employment base,” Khandelwal said.

CAT National President B.C. Bhartia informed that the campaign will be implemented in every state and district, involving conferences with traders, consumers, and civil society. Awareness drives will be conducted through social media, posters, rallies, and direct public interaction. Schools, colleges, trade boards, NGOs, and various sections of society will be actively involved to spread the message of adopting Indian goods.

CAIT Chairman Brijmohan Agarwal highlighted that small traders are facing losses due to the aggressive market practices of foreign companies. “The quality of Indian products today is world-class, and prices are reasonable. Buying Indian products supports our artisans, entrepreneurs, and traders while helping reduce India’s trade deficit,” he said. Agarwal stressed that promoting indigenous goods would also help preserve Indian culture, cottage industries, and handicrafts.

Jharkhand CAT leaders Kishore Golchha and Bitthal Agarwal announced that the “Indian Goods – Our Self-Respect” campaign will also be launched by the CAT Jamshedpur chapter to safeguard the interests of traders, the economy, and citizens. A month-long poster campaign will be carried out in every shop across Jharkhand, including Jamshedpur. The initiative will also include public awareness programmes through meetings, rallies, and direct interaction with shopkeepers, intellectuals, housewives, students, and the general public.

Suresh Sonthalia called upon all traders to display posters stating “Only Indian Goods Available” at their establishments, encouraging customers to adopt indigenous products. He said the campaign would serve as a significant step towards economic self-reliance and strengthen the foundation of India’s economic pride.
