Be compassionate teachers, not just educators: CKV Ramana
Renowned speaker C.K.V. Ramana urges B.Ed. students to uphold values and responsibility of teaching profession
Jamshedpur, March 13: A motivational session for B.Ed. students was organized by the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of DBMS College of Education on Friday. The session was conducted by renowned motivational speaker C.K.V. Ramana from Chennai, who encouraged aspiring teachers to recognize the importance and responsibility of the teaching profession.
Addressing the students, Ramana spoke about the noble role of teachers in shaping society and guiding future generations. He emphasized that teaching is not merely a profession but a mission that requires dedication, compassion and a commitment to continuous learning. He urged the students to strive to become not only good educators but also responsible and empathetic human beings.

During the session, Ramana explained the true meaning of a ‘Guru’ as someone who removes the darkness of ignorance and leads others toward knowledge and enlightenment. He highlighted that the greatest gift a teacher can give students is knowledge, which remains with them throughout their lives.
The speaker illustrated his points by quoting several Sanskrit shlokas and references from ancient texts such as the Bhagavad Gita, Chanakya Niti and the Yaksha–Yudhishthira Samvad. Referring to Verse 38 of the fourth chapter of the Gita, he explained that knowledge is the most valuable wealth in the world. “A king is respected only within his kingdom, but a scholar is respected everywhere,” he said. He also compared a teacher to kajal (kohl) applied to the eyes, explaining that a teacher enhances vision and broadens one’s perspective.

The session concluded with an interactive question-and-answer segment in which Ramana addressed queries from students. The programme left a strong impression on the participants, inspiring them to value education and uphold the dignity of the teaching profession.
College Patron Bhanumathi Neelakantan, President Dr. B. Chandrasekhar, Secretary Sripriya Dharmarajan, Joint Secretary Sudha Dilip, Principal Dr. Joohi Samarpita, Vice-Principal Dr. Monika Uppal, along with faculty members and staff, were present on the occasion.
