No moral ground for the state government to stay: Arjun Munda

Jamshedpur: Former Chief Minister and leader of the Opposition in the state Arjun Munda today called on the state government to quit in the larger interest of the people. He said the state government had lost the moral ground to continue in office.

It is better for the Hemant Soren government to step down. If the government refuses to do so, the BJP will take recourse to the way of agitation and remove the government with the help and support of the people, Munda said.

The former CM was speaking on the current political situation in Jharkhand on Sunday. He said the people were hopeless and restless too. He said a strategy will be chalked out soon by the state BJP to dismantle the government and lead it to its logical end.

Munda said Jharkhand Mukti Morcha and Congress had allied to run the state government and later decided to contest the Lok Sabha elections together. But the people completely and out-rightly rejected such an alliance, he said.

The CM remained in Dumka on the day of polling and also on the day of counting. The district administration made such an arrangement that the power went off and the generator too, was shutting down on the day of counting, Munda said.

The Opposition leader said the power supply situation in the state had gone totally haywire due to patronization of middlemen. The work of transmission, generation and distribution of electricity in the state has been stalled. The situation in Ranchi and Jamshedpur is so poor. One can easily assess the situation in other parts of the state. The state government is implementing plans without making a work plan. This has led the development projects to hit roadblocks. It stopped many government schemes started in my tenure. The work of purchasing paddy and the Daal Bhaat Yojana started by me were also stopped, he said.

Munda went on to allege that the officials of few public sector units and state bureaucrats were involved in coal smuggling in the state. He said the BJP will demand a CBI probe on the issue in the new regime.
