Jamshedpur: Mohanadih village in Gwalkata Panchayat of Potka Block is far removed from the governments boast of development at least, it has not reached this part of the world where children through 70 years have been wading through a wide drain whose waters run upto five feet during the monsoons. The water flows in a sharp current and the children going to and fro to the Mohanadih Primary School risking their lives yet no government official through the years have cared to inspect the area that is an open invitation to death for the precious citizens of tomorrow.
Mukhiya Sitaram Hansda informed, During the monsoons even motorcycles cannot cross this wide drain because of the depth of water and strong current. Therefore you can very well gauge how difficult and risky it is with the children. This scene has been persisting sine 70 years. No official has come here ever to enquire about our woes. The jungle water flows throw this drain adding to the danger factor.
The Mukhiya further added, Many a time children wading through the water fall down and their text books get wet thus making them useless. Their studies are thus hampered and the more serious part is their lives are open to danger. The kids risk their lives to attend school.
Sitaram Hansda said that he has urged the Jharkhand government yo ensure construction of a bridge over the drain at the earliest so that children do not have to risk their lives to obtain education. In the mean time, it is a wait and watch period as to when the government takes heed of the necessity of a bridge.
