Jamshedpur: Body of the 24-year-old youth Pankaj Thakur was recovered from Dasam falls police station area in Ranchi early this morning.
Police said that Pankaj’s business partner, Uday Chaudhury had conspired his murder with the help of his four associates and later dumped the body at the Dashamfall on October 31 night.
Uday Chaudhury (36) murdered Pankaj as they had a dispute over money.
The police have arrested five persons in connection to the abduction and murder. Those arrested included Uday Chaudhury, Pankaj Singh, Santosh Chaudhury, Kallu Jaiswal and Sumit Mishra.
A resident of Manifit in Telco, Pankaj had left home at 11 amon October 30 for his work site at Sidhgora, but he never returned home.
His father Rakesh Thakur had lodged a missing person report with the Telco thana. On Monday, Pankaj’s mother Purnima Devi had lodged an FIR against the victim’s business partner Uday and his four associates, alleging that they might have abducted her son with an ulterior motive.
Earlier, Pankaj’s motorcycle (JH05BG-7876) was found lying at Birsa Maidan in Sitaramdera, about three kms away from his house. His cellphone was found from the possession of a lady sweeper in Howrah locality on October 12. The lady sweeper had picked up the cellphone from beneath a seat of Gyaneswari Express on October 2.
It was after his cellphone was recovered from Howrah that the police suspected a foul play behind his disappearance.
The body was recovered today and sent to RIMS’s mortuary. During the post-mortem, four pellets were recovered from the body of Pankaj.
Those arrested were identified as Uday Chaudhury (36), Moni Das (26), Sumit Mishra (33), Dipak Kumar Mahto (24) and Mahesh Mishra (31).
Speaking to media, senior SP, Anoop T Mathew said that they have recovered the SUV that had been used in carrying Pankaj from Jamshedpur to Dasam Fall and also the pistol used in the murder.
