Met department predicts more rainfall in 24 hours

Jamshedpur : Met department has issued forecast of rainfall over Jharkhand in the next 24-hours due to a cyclonic circulation over Chhatisgarh and neighbouring Odisha which has formed due to the impact of a western disturbance.

Director of the Patna Meteorological Centre, A K Sen said that the cyclonic circulation had formed over Central India and it was gradually moving towards Odisha.

However, the senior Met official said that the impact of the cyclonic circulation is going to stay for another 24-hours. ” The weather condition will improve after the next 24-hours,” he said . Weathermen said that the cyclonic circulation was extending about 1 Km above the sea level.

Jamshedpur received 452mm of rain in the month of June against an average of 185mm. Last year, the steel city had recorded a meagre 58.6mm in June while in 2009 it recorded 63.4 mm of rain. Jamshedpur had created a record of sorts when it recorded 698mm of rain in the month of June in 2008. Several places, including Ranchi, Jamshedpur and Daltonganj experienced intermittent rains in the past 24 hours.
