Jamshedpur, Feb 22: Concerned over recent spurt in Covid-19 cases, the administration has started corona tests of passengers coming at Tatanagar railway station. Three separate teams have been set up by the District Health Department for conducting tests. Names, addresses and phone numbers of the passengers were recorded today. After this, all are being sampled. The corona investigation at the station will be carried out in two shifts. Testing will be done from 6 am to 2 am and from 2 am to 10 pm. A total of 60 employees have been engaged for the task. It consists of 30 ANMs and 30 MPWs.
The investigation campaign is headed by Additional Chief Medical Officer (ACMO) Dr. Sahir Pal. A special investigation drive will be carried out at the station for a week. During this time, if someone is found infected, he will be kept in home isolation or government quarantine.
Tatanagar railway station has geared up its entire machinery in a big way to take comprehensive measures on the prevention of Corona COVID 19 virus infection.
Officials of Tatanagar railway station informed that the situation is being constantly monitored and coordinated at all levels. Desks have been set up all over the railway system and the staff has been sensitized and educated about the subject. The collaboration and coordination with the concerned health authorities are also being ensured.
Information, Education, & Communication (IEC) material (posters and pamphlets) regarding coronavirus (COVID-19) are being prominently displayed for awareness of the general public in local language at railway stations and in trains and are also being distributed to patients visiting hospitals and in Railway colonies. Audio and video clips are being played at railway stations to spread awareness. Public announcements are being made at stations.
The medical staff has been advised that if any patient of Coronavirus disease is suspected or reported in any of the Railway Hospital/Health Unit in Zone/PU, the same may be informed to Railway Board and local health authorities immediately. Control rooms and Telephone helplines have been set up at all Railway hospitals.
Among other measures, disinfectants are being sprayed on the exterior and interiors of all the coaches/EMUs/MEMUs of the primary maintenance trains. Audio announcements and videos are played on a regular basis to create awareness about precautionary measures against COVID-19.
As part of these initiatives and in view of the advisory from Railway Board, the supply of woolen blankets to AC coach passengers has been withdrawn. Pillows, Pillow covers and bed sheets will continue to be supplied.
